We traveled from Auckland south to Queensland and Christchurch via planes, train and cars. We then went to Australia and enjoyed Sydney, Port Douglas and back to the Blue Mountains. It was an amazing trip.
Best parts:
Beautiful country, both New Zealand and Australia. Glow worm caves in New Zealand were awesome as was Milford Sound. Simply spectacular!
Worst parts:
It took a LONG time for Amanda, the travel agent, to understand that we did not need to stay at 4 and 5 star hotels. We had told her from the very beginning but her quotes just kept coming in very high cost. We finally got through to her but we had to do quite a bit of research on our own. She did select some great activities, some of which we could afford, some we had to research on on own also.

We had such an adventurous trip. My two kids (9 and 6) and my husband and I wanted to get as much out of our 16 day trip as possible and we did. In Queenstown, we travelled to Milford Sound via plane and did a cruise of the fjords. The entire trip was priceless and well worth the money spent. In Queenstown we stayed at The Rees Hotel. It was an amazing place and I highly recommend. While in Queenstown, we also took the gondola up and did the luge, we went jet boating at Shotover Jetboats and enjoyed the city. Queenstown will always be so memorable because the place is gorgeous everywhere and so fun! Other than Queenstown, Mt. Cook stands out because of it’s beauty. We took a helicopter ride on top of the glacier and were just awestruck by the scenery. Finally, Rotorua was an place of great adventure too. We had a blast zip lining, going to the Agrodome, Ogo’ing and doing the Maori Cultural Experience. Rotorua is full of adventure and a top spot on our trip. We ended our trip up north in Oakura Bay and Auckland. The beach was gorgeous and we loved checking out the city. Overall, we had an amazing time as a family of four exploring both the north and South Island of NZ!
Best parts:
Wow! New Zealand was absolutely stunning and my family and I loved our entire trip. Our favorite place was probably Queenstown, but it’s really hard to pick our favorite. I can’t name a dislike at all. Our travel agent was phenomenal in planning it all out and ensuring every detail was included. It made our trip seamless and stress-free.
Worst parts:
Nothing.

We have always wanted to visit New Zealand but we’re unsure about how to plan itinerary so it was brilliant to use a local agency for this purpose and prebook accommodation and activities. It was a very busy itinerary but necessary to see what we wanted to in time available in 2 weeks South Island and one week on North Island.
Best parts:
Scenery amazing and prebooked trips and excursions excellent. Home stays and most other accommodation good.
Worst parts:
Some of the motel accommodation of a standard below expected.

In approx 24 days we went from Auckland, up to Pahia/Russel and then all the way down to Doubtful Sound stopping at various places on the way for a night here and two there.... We loved the scenery and how friendly everyone was. Highlights had to be the light aircraft - whale watching in Kaikoura and the scenic flights over the volcanoes in Tongariro but the helicopter trip over the Franz Joseph, Fox and Tasman Glaciers was just out of this world!!! All the hotels were wonderful and exactly what we asked for. All in all a perfect trip - didn't want to come home! Thank you Carolyn!!!
Best parts:
We loved everything about the trip. It was nice to be met at the airport rather than having to find our own way into town and to be taken to the car rental depot with our luggage. What was amazing was to be able to travel through both the North and South Islands of New Zealand taking in the beautiful scenery and fresh air.
Worst parts:
The only downside was purely of our own doing - not having enough time to really see everything. Having 2 nights in each place was great but occasionally we need 2 nights when we only had 1. Or even having 2 nights and still wanting more!! We'll just have to come back and do some of it again....

Trip was excellent - car hire was good - and scenery to die for. Apart from Christchurch which should not be used as a tourist destination until it is rebuilt
Best parts:
The scenery in New Zealand is incredible and well worth the long trip. Kiwis are very friendly people
Worst parts:
The accommodation we were provided with fell short on several occasions and, the last accommodation turned out to be, literally, a shed on stilts with a toilet attached and just enough room for a bed - no television, wardrobe etc. Backpackers accommodation really - entirely unsuitable and totally misrepresented in our itinirary
